This is a great activity that works with lots of different age groups. Take a roll of masking tape or painter’s tape, and make little patterns on the floor. Then show your child how to walk on it as if you were walking on a tightrope. You can do simple lines and curves for the little ones, and progressively more complex patterns for older kids.
Ideas:
- Do funny things with it, like going over a sofa or under a closed door.
- Tear the tape and start the next line far away so the kids have to jump.
- See if the kids can do it backwards, or hop on one foot
- Let older kids make courses for each other, maybe in different colors
Beware of paths that lead out of windows….
