About

Action Parent is a blog for parents who want to have fun with their kids and are looking for some new things to do.

You will find:

  • A repository of activities for babies and children up to age 5. The posts are aimed to help you find new and stimulating ways to play with your children, even if you have experience with kids, and especially if you don’t.
  • A collection of songs with lyrics, bouncing games and finger plays. This is great for parents or caregivers who have forgotten all those songs from childhood, or who are just getting bored with the same ones over and over again. (Warning: I am not a huge fan of TV or videos for kids, so none of the songs here will feature Elmo, Sponge-Bob, Disney princesses or any other character. If you can recommend some good songs I’m happy to post them, but I won’t be going out of my way to find them!)
  • Fresh content is added regularly including links to recommended books, toys, and other parenting tips.

Who is Lauren Shindo?

ActionParent.com content is produced by Lauren Shindo, a language teacher and mother of two young children.

For the past 5 years Lauren has been teaching language courses to children from six months old to 10 years old, and she has developed a vast repertoire of high-quality songs, activities and games for children of various ages. Lauren’s blogging is also strongly influenced by her graduate school research in infant brain development, so you can be sure to find a host of activities that are designed to stimulate your child’s developing brain.
